| When you're piloting an automobile projectile that can reach the century mark faster than you can say "gesundheit," you want to know absolutely everything that's going on, without delay. That's precisely why Viper's instrument panel is outfitted with a full complement of gauges that are large, legible, and logically placed. While you may not be driving a full-bore, race-prepped GTS-R down the Mulsanne Straight at almost 200 mph, you're sure to appreciate the 7,000-rpm tachometer and the 200-mph speedometer, just the same. They are mounted directly ahead, beyond the three-spoke steering wheel that features a driver Next Generation air bag.* Like the voltmeter, fuel, oil pressure, and engine coolant temperature gauges smartly aligned to the right, both the tachometer and speedometer feature black graphics on a bold white background. The steering column adjusts. So do the accelerator, brake and clutch pedals (shown at left) via a knob located on the lower instrument panel. Also on the instrument panel are the on/off switch for the front passenger Next Genereation air bag* and the controls for the standard air conditioning and a premium Alpine We never said the interior was pure race car. One look at the new optional interior, shown on the following pages, settles that point quite dramatically. The manually adjustable sport seats are trimmed in rich Cognac-colored Connolly leather while plated satin-finish accents are highlighted throughout the cockpit. This interior is available as an option on RT/10 Roadsters and GTS Coupes finished in Viper Black or Viper Bright Metallic Silver monotones and on the Viper Black GTS Coupe with painted Silver stripes. |
